# Finding a rental became personal for me.

After moving often, finding a rental became personal. That story became the basis for Dean, the rental search software I had been missing. I eventually found a home because I responded at the right moment.

## Moving followed me through life.

I lived at several addresses in Amsterdam, moved to a small village in Belgium and later came back. At times I shared a crowded apartment with family; later I paid a lot for a small studio. I learned early that a home is more than four walls. A stable place gives you room to move forward.

After graduating, finding a rental became genuinely difficult. Staying with my grandmother made practical sense, but after years of independence it felt like going backwards. I found the next studio largely through luck and the people I knew. That helped me, but a network should not decide whether you see a new listing in time.

- **Amsterdam:** Growing up at several addresses.
- **Belgium:** Experiencing how much your surroundings shape daily life.
- **Amsterdam:** Returning for university, work and a place of my own.

## The agent said something I did not forget.

> Just be the first person to email.

When my partner and I needed more space, the search started again. One evening I replied to a home that had just appeared online. Three months later, an unexpected invitation arrived for a crowded group viewing.

After the viewing, the agent explained that the first interested person to email would be first in line. I sent my response straight away. Two weeks later, we got the keys. Luck mattered, of course, but so did the moment I first saw the advert.

I am building Dean to make that moment less dependent on chance, connections or an evening when you happen to check one more rental website.

## What I want Dean to change.

- **Today** Make repetitive rental searching affordable to automate, so your time goes to adverts you genuinely want to respond to.
- **In the longer term** A renter should be able to see suitable new listings in time without monitoring the housing market all day.

## The choices behind Dean.

A good search service makes the process shorter and clearer. That principle determines what we build and what we leave out.

- **Only alerts you can act on** Dean focuses on fresh listings that fit your profile and are worth reviewing.
- **No pretending to be an agent** Dean does not rent out homes or choose tenants. We check the market and help you see what fits sooner.
- **A person when you get stuck** Software can handle a great deal of checking. If you have a question about your account or profile, you get a clear answer from someone who looks at what happened.
- **Happy when you cancel** Dean should not become a habit. The best time to cancel is when you have found a suitable home.

That is why every plan runs month to month and includes a 14-day money-back guarantee. You pay while Dean is useful to your search, and no longer.
